From scraps and old clothes you can sew a handbag with a zipper using the patchwork technique with the "Flying Cranes" pattern. The shape of the bag is very convenient for storing handicrafts, kitchen utensils or equipment.
It is necessary
- - ruler;
- - sewing accessories;
- - scraps of fabric (old clothes);
- - zipper (length - 60 cm);
- - 1 m cotton fabric (yellow and blue);
- - 0.5 m padding polyester (old blanket, diaper, batting);
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare for the pattern "flying cranes" squares: 6 pieces of yellow fabric - with a side of 14 cm, from blue fabric - with a side of 10 cm.
Step 2
Sew the squares together (see photo), creating pattern elements - rectangles.
Step 3
Combine the blank of the pattern with a length of 73.5 cm and a width of 8.5 cm with a padding polyester. Sew the workpiece by joining the short edges together.
Step 4
Cut the lid and bottom for a 15 * 25 cm bag out of blue and yellow fabric. After sewing both fabrics with padding polyester, sew a stitch on a sewing machine. Connect the zipper with a blue rectangle measuring 15 * 3 cm.
Step 5
Make a handle for a bag: on one side a blue fabric - 7.5 * 60 cm, and on the other - a yellow fabric 3.5 * 60 cm. Place a synthetic winterizer in the middle of the handle. Pin the handle and zipper to the lid of the bag (see photo).
Step 6
Prepare a 5.5 cm wide strip of blue fabric for the edging of the lid and bottom of the bag. Align the edge of the piping strip with the edges of the zipper and cover, and sew. Connect the lid and bottom to the main body.
