A pillow with cross stitch embroidery can be a pretty element of the interior. It will be cozy as it is made with your own hands. In addition, the embroidered pillow is an exclusive and original item that attracts the attention of guests.
It is necessary
- - fabric with embroidery;
- - fabric for a pillowcase;
- - threads of the color of this fabric;
- - cloth for the bedclothes;
- - a needle;
- - sewing machine (optional);
- - material for stuffing the pillow (feathers, down or synthetic winterizer).
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your embroidery. Wash and iron it. It is desirable that the same amount of white space remains on all sides to the embroidered object (provided that the background is not embroidered).
Step 2
Decide what size the pillow will be (it also depends on the size of the embroidery). The embroidery can occupy the entire front side, or be in its center, from all sides being framed by another fabric, as if in a frame. Write down how many centimeters one side of the future pillow will be.
Step 3
Prepare the tissue for the pillowcase. You then fill it with feathers or padding polyester. And it is better to make a pillowcase out of the embroidery itself so that it can be removed and washed if necessary.
Step 4
Lay out the fabric on the table, draw two identical squares with a special chalk, leave 2 centimeters from each side when you cut them out. These margins are needed for stitching. Fold the squares together right side in and baste by hand with a large stitch. Then sew all but one side of the square on the sewing machine.
Step 5
Turn out the resulting cover and stuff it with feathers, padding polyester or other filler. Sew the hole by hand, tucking the edges inward. The pillow is ready. Now it remains to make a pillowcase with embroidery.
Step 6
Get a good piece of cloth. To make the back of the pillowcase, cut out a square with sides one and a half centimeters longer than for the main pillowcase. Also cut out 3 rectangles with a long side equal to the side of the square. And make the fourth rectangle wider by seven centimeters. This rectangle will be positioned at the bottom of the pillow to create an overlap.
Step 7
Sew these rectangles, tucking the corners diagonally to create a kind of embroidery frame.
Step 8
Place the resulting "frame" on the embroidery, bending its edges inward and sew along the edge. The embroidery now forms one piece with the "frame" and together they form the front side of the pillowcase.
Step 9
Fold the front and back sides of the pillowcase together, right side inward. At the same time, bend the bottom of the front side so that you get an "overlap". The edges of both bottom parts of the pillowcase must be folded and hemmed beforehand.
Step 10
Sew from the top and sides. The pillowcase is ready. Turn it out and slide it over the pillow.
