Hand-made products are particularly unique and carry the love of the one who made them. Such crafts will be a great gift or decorate a festive table. Making a candle yourself is a snap. This will take a little free time, creative ideas and very little special materials.
It is necessary
- - water bath;
- - a set for making candles or ordinary household white candles;
- - dye;
- - flavoring;
- - a shape for a future candle.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a water bath for use. Fill a convenient saucepan with water and prepare a working container to melt the paraffin wax.
Step 2
While the water is warming up in a water bath, cut the finished paraffin into small pieces and place them in a working container. You can use not only ready-made paraffin from handicraft stores, but also paraffin from household candles. Keep in mind to keep the wick intact when painting the wax from the candle. It has special value and can be reused in our craft.
Step 3
Incubate the container with paraffin in a water bath until it is completely melted. Stir the liquid paraffin with a long stick until it melts completely.
Step 4
Now prepare the wick. It can be made from special twine purchased from a craft store or from the wick we described in paragraph two. It is very easy to fix the wick before pouring - use a toothpick or a long torch. Tie a wick to it and lower it into a pouring mold. Depending on the modification of the shape, you will need to look for the correct way to fix the toothpick. The easiest way is if you are making a cylindrical candle. A sinker can be tied to the end of the wick to keep it taut and even.
Step 5
While the paraffin is liquid, dyes and fragrances can be added. They are sold at any office supply store or craft stores. If you cannot find flavors and dyes, then you can use a melted colored wax pencil as a dye, and add food flavoring for the smell. But you need to be careful - not all wax crayons use harmless dyes, and not all food flavorings can be burned. Burning can produce unpleasant odors and sometimes even harmful compounds.
Step 6
It remains only to pour the candle into the mold. You can use a jar or glass, or you can buy or make a special silicone mold.
