The first slot machine was invented in the USA in the 90s of the XIX century by a native of Bavaria Charles Fey. He was an excellent mechanic and locksmith, and the fundamental design solutions created by him are still used today in a significant part of automatic machines. This is a set of wheels with a large number of various symbols available on them, as well as payouts when the corresponding combinations of symbols appear.
Bell of Liberty
Invented by C. Fey in 1895, the Liberty Bell machine, after various improvements, took the leading position in the casino. The slot machine got its name due to the fact that a big win happened when three "bells" or other symbols appeared in one row.
Fairy slot machines spread widely across the United States, where they were installed mainly in saloons and billiard rooms. In the state of Nevada in 1912, they were legalized under the guise of vending machines. There was one condition for this: the winnings had to be paid not in cash. For a significant period thereafter, winnings were paid out in various goods, especially chewing gum. The real first slot machine is now in one of the restaurants in Reno, Nevada.

Charles Fey also created slot machines 3 Spinde, Klondike, Draw Power. In 1901 he invented a poker machine. The separator invented by the designer and used in the "Liberty Bell" is very interesting. A hole in the middle of it made it possible for the control device to identify counterfeit coins and tokens.
In 1888, the USA began to serially produce Jackpot machines with a special accumulation system, where the first win necessarily depended on the weight of the collected coins that poured out of the accumulator. However, this model did not become widespread, because the players realized that they needed to hit the machine harder, and then the coins would start falling out.
It was a time of revolutionary industrial development. In America, many have followed the example of the pioneers of the gaming business and developed more sophisticated versions of the main structure. The addition of various symbols made it possible to register the design of a new gaming machine in its own name. But the basic format remained the same, although the possibility of more payment options appeared.
The classic designs of Fairy, as well as Mills, made the game quite random, but made it possible to calculate the result, so they were further improved.
