Step 1
Simple pigtail. Tie the pattern first before knitting. To do this, cast on 12 loops. Knitting patterns are based on the same principle: * 2 purl loops, 8 front loops, 2 purl loops *. Knit the next row according to the picture. Thus, repeat 5 rows. In row 6, knit 2 purl loops, then remove 4 loops on an additional knitting needle and leave at work, knit the next 4 loops with the front ones, then from the additional knitting needles knit the missed 4 front loops. End the row with 2 purl stitches. Knit the reverse side and the next 5 rows according to the picture. Then repeat all operations from the beginning. As a result, you will get braids, which, after acquiring skills in working with a pattern, can be knitted with twisted, both to the right and to the left.
Step 2
Pigtail with a jumper. The knitting principle is exactly the same. For sample only, cast on 14 stitches. The pattern of knitting a braid pattern: * 2 purl loops, 10 front loops, 2 purl loops *. Knit the wrong side according to the picture. Complete 5 rows in total. In row 6, knit 2 purl loops, remove 4 loops on an additional knitting needle at work. Then remove 2 loops on an extra knitting needle before work, knit 4 face loops. Next, knit the removed 2 front loops and lastly the removed 4 front loops. As a result, you get a pigtail, with a closed center, that is, with a jumper.
Step 3
Single pigtail. For the sample, cast on 10 loops, knit according to the pattern: * 2 purl loops, 1 front, 4 purl loops, 1 front loop, 2 purl loops *. Knit the reverse row according to the figure. Follow these 6 rows. In row 7, work according to the scheme: * 2 purl loops, remove 1 front loop before work, remove 4 loops at work, 1 front loop, then knit 4 purl loops previously removed, 1 front and 2 purl *. Knit the wrong side of the sample according to the figure. Repeat the operations at regular intervals.
Step 4
Practice on patterns by varying the width and length of the braids. Thus, you can independently make knitted patterns with knitting needles in the form of braids of a wide variety of types, for example, a double or triple braid.
