Step 1
The battle is a large-scale fighting between two sides. In the foreground, as a rule, several figures are shown fighting with each other. The second plan is represented by a generalized image of a crowd of people. The picture can be complemented by a landscape or architectural elements. Drawing a battle is quite difficult, you must be able to draw figures of people in different poses, as well as animals (if you decide to draw a horse battle).
Step 2
Decide on the composition of your future painting. The battle you depict can take place against the backdrop of the architectural curtains of the city or on the field. Draw a horizon line and outline the main borders of the foreground and background. In order for the composition of the picture to be balanced, you must find a semantic center that will play a major role in the depiction of the plot.
Step 3
In the foreground, depict several well-defined figures of warriors fighting each other. If you choose to portray a horse battle, draw two riders on horseback fighting each other. Place several more figures of warriors on horses next to them in different poses. The first plan should be well thought out. Draw the figures of people and horses carefully. Military clothing and weapons play an important role. You can sketch it from ready-made illustrations or photographs.
Step 4
Draw a background representing a crowd of people. There is no need to draw every single warrior. To prevent the composition from breaking into parts, the background should be transferred in a generalized and schematic manner. To show a lot of people, it is enough to depict several figures in full growth, and behind them draw the visible heads of warriors and towering spears.
Step 5
You can leave your drawing in graphic form with simple pencils or make it in color. You can use colored pencils or watercolors for this. Color the first plan with bright colors, make a clear outline of the shapes. The second plan should be blurry and less saturated. After applying paint to the drawing, let the paper dry. Then draw the small details of the foreground with a dark pencil or black pen.
