A knitted shirt is an extremely convenient accessory that allows you to do without scarves and high-necked sweaters in cold weather. It is not always possible to choose such a product of the desired color, ideally suited to the future owner in size. It's easier to figure out how to knit a bib with knitting needles in different ways and replenish your wardrobe with a unique homemade item.
Simple knitted bib for beginners
To knit the shirt-front with knitting needles, start in straight and reverse rows from a 2x2 gum sample. Having made the canvas a few centimeters high, close it in a ring and try on. If the part fits well over the head, while it wraps around the neck enough, you have decided on the number of initial loops (neck width). Correct the number if necessary.
Make a high elastic for the future neck with a lapel. Try it on from time to time to make sure it's the right size. When the canvas reaches about 20 cm, start adding shoulder loops. Make a row of knit stitches, and in the next row - through a loop on a crochet, thus doubling the number of initial loops.
Continue knitting the bib with the front satin stitch. To prevent holes from forming in the fabric after the yarns, knit the overlaid bows, grabbing them with a knitting needle for the back walls. Stitch 7-10 cm and close the loops. Make a connecting seam and strip the edge of the finished shirt front so that it does not bend.
Fashionable shirt front raglan
With a little skill, it is recommended to knit the shirt-front with knitting needles, performing raglan, that is, an oblique armhole diagonally from the neck to the armpits. This cut will make the product silhouette, it will keep its shape better and look neat.
Run a seamless raglan bib on circular needles with line. On them, make a tubular rubber band of the desired height, and then mark the points of the raglan formation with bright threads or pins. To do this, you need to count the loops and break the canvas into 4 parts: front and back (equal in width); left and right shoulder (equal in width).
Work on the bib with the front knit, while making a raglan line through the row before and after the marks - add crochet stitches. So knit about 7 cm, then close all loops except for the front. Perform the remaining front row of the knitted shirt-front on straight knitting needles, from the "face" of the product on both sides, knitting together the two extreme loops in front of the hem. So tie another 7 cm and close the row.
Button-down shirt
An excellent solution for a baby's shirt-front is a product with a fastener, which is very convenient to use. This is especially important for toddlers who do not like to wear clothes with a neck over their heads.
Begin knitting with 1x1 elastic in straight and back rows. Make the canvas the desired height, considering that the knitted shirt front will have a lapel. Then start the increments, knitting two from each facial at once. Thus, you get a 1x2 elastic, which needs to be made 5 rows. Repeat the increments again, knitting two front ones from one loop. You will get a 2x2 elastic, with which perform 16 rows.
Form a lapel, sew it loosely around the edges. On one of the side edges of the shirt front, cast on the loops and tie the button strip with a 1x1 elastic band. The size is about 5 rows. On the opposite edge, make the same piece, but with holes for the fittings. To do this, having knitted a couple of rows with an elastic band, in the third row in the place of the holes, make a yarn after the front loop. In the fourth, knit the thrown loops, picking them up on the front wall. Finish the placket and sew on the buttons.
Now you know how to knit a bib with knitting needles in different ways. The product will look more elegant if you crochet it. If desired, the canvas can be made with jacquard, a relief pattern, or decorated with embroidery and appliqués.
