The classic Kubank fur hat is still popular among hats. The variety of styles of this headdress is achieved due to the difference in the height of the head and the size of the bottom. Kubanka can be narrowed upwards, expanded or strict cylindrical in shape. Sewing a Kuban hat yourself is not so difficult.
It is necessary
- - fur on the side;
- - material for the bottom (fur, leather, drape, velvet);
- - interlining fabric (non-woven, dense twill, needle-punched fabric)
- - lining.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the right amount of fur and fabric for the lining. Determine if the hat will be composed entirely of fur or if the option with combined fabrics will suit you. Draw a pattern for the side and bottom according to the scheme. Please note that the patterns are given without seam allowances.
Step 2
Start laying out patterns. For fur details, when cutting, add 0.3 cm to the pattern on all sides. At the bottom of the side, the pattern already contains a one-piece hem allowance of 2 cm. Place the details on the fur, taking into account the direction of the pile - from right to left. Draw the outline of the pattern on the leather side of the fur with a ballpoint pen. On felt and lining, use chalk or soap to stroke.
Step 3
You need to cut out details from fur with a sharp scalpel or blade. You cannot cut fur with scissors. Cut out the parts from the cushioning material without a hem allowance along the lower edge of the bead. For the rest of the cuts, make a 1 cm seam allowance. From the lining fabric, cut out parts with 1 cm allowances along all edges, except for the bottom.
Step 4
Sew a short cut of the side piece by hand (for fur) or by machine. When sewing the fur, make sure that the leather does not stretch or pucker. Sew in the bottom part. Turn the fur head inside out and slide the non-woven part on top. The seams must match. Sew the head to the kubanka with a "goat" seam, while laying a measuring tape from any braid. Turn the allowance for the hem of the bottom of the fur part (2 cm) inside out and hem to the lining, lightly gripping the leather with the needle.
Step 5
Stitch the cuts of the lining part. Iron the seams. Put the lining on the fur head turned inside out. Fold up the hem and sew by hand with blind stitches.
Step 6
Turn the product out. Lightly dampen the fur. Smooth the fur with a brush and comb through with a metal comb. Remove the villi inside the seam with a needle. Dry the hat at room temperature and comb the pile again.
