Format is a way of writing information to a file. It can be identified by three or four letters after the dot in the file name. The main audio information formats are.mp3,.waw,.flac and others. Depending on the format, the playback quality of the audio file and its weight change. Almost any sound editor can change the format.
Instructions
Step 1
Install any sound editor: “Audition”, “Audacity”, “Sound Forge” or similar. Several zipped editors can be downloaded from the link below. Start the editor, register it if necessary.
Step 2
From the File menu, click Open and select the file you want to overwrite. It will open as a sample on one of the tracks in the editor. Check that it is exactly at the beginning of the track, at the time mark "0.00.00".
Step 3
Select the entire track. Open the "File" menu again, then find the "Export" command. Select the "Audio" option. Assign a new file format, new name (optional) and directory. When changing the format, you can save the file under the same name in the same folder - the original file will not be erased or overwritten.
Step 4
Close the audio editor. If further work with the current track is not planned, it is not necessary to save the session. Open the folder with the saved file, check its properties and format, listen to the sound, check the quality and volume.
