Instructions
Step 1
Measure the length and width of the mattress. If the bed has two backs, then add 60 cm to these measurements. If the bed has only a headboard, then add 30 cm in length and 60 cm in width of the bedspread.
Step 2
Cut out rectangular pieces according to your measurements from the main fabric, padding polyester and cotton material. The main problem is that the average width of fabrics is 150 cm, if your bed is wider, you can get out of the position and make a contrasting piping around the edges of the product. But you can do otherwise, sew a blanket from a curtain fabric, the width of which can be 2.4 m or 2.8 m.
Step 3
Fold all the parts of the bedspread in this order: the bottom of the cotton fabric, the layer of padding polyester and decorative fabric. Pin off all 3 layers with tailor's pins along the cuts and center.
Step 4
Draw lines for the stitch with tailor's chalk, they can be drawn on the outside of the product, they will then be erased by themselves. Sweep all layers of the bedspread together. Sew along the basting line on the sewing machine, making sure to place the seam next to it. Remove the basting, pull out all the pins. Iron the bedspread.
Step 5
Carefully trim all sections of the product. Trim the edges with a bias tape. Insert the cut of the bedspread into the folded in half. Pin it and baste it by hand. Remove the pins and sew the tape very carefully, trying to make the stitching as straight as possible. Iron the product again.
Step 6
A bedspread with ruffles, which can be made from the same fabric as the upper part of the product, or from fabric with a different texture, but the same color, or from a companion fabric, will greatly decorate the bedroom.
Step 7
To make a ruffled bedspread, measure the size of the mattress and cut out a rectangle equal to these measurements plus 5 cm on each side for seam allowances.
Step 8
Cut out the details for the ruffles. Their length should be equal to the height of the bed from the floor or slightly shorter. The width of the part is equal to the width or length of the mattress multiplied by 2 or 3. The larger this value, the more magnificent the frill will turn out.
Step 9
Sew the main part of the bedspread as described above, but you do not need to process the edges with a bias tape. Sew the lower part of the frill, bending it 2 times to the wrong side, or process it with a tape.
Step 10
On the top side of the part, lay one-sided or opposing folds and pin them together. Fold the bedspread and frill right sides together, aligning the cuts, and baste the frill. Sew on the sewing machine and overcast or zig-zag the cut.
