In this article, we will not talk about those forks with which they eat, but about those with which you can knit beautiful things. These are knitting forks. They resemble the shape of the English letter U and are made of metal or plastic. The distance from one end of the fork to the other is not fixed and can be 20-100 mm. The width of the braid knitted with a fork depends on this.

Step 1
Knitting forks are sold in specialty stores, there are universal models that allow you to adjust the distance between the ends of the fork. But you can make such an object yourself and immediately try it out in practice.
Step 2
To do this, we need an ordinary knitting needle, its number depends on what kind of products you are going to knit. With pliers, remove one of the sharp ends of our blank knitting needle. We process the place of "biting off" with a sandpaper, so as not to get hurt and so that the thread does not cling. We bend the workpiece in the shape of the letter U. Only the ends of our fork need to be strictly parallel. The quality of knitting directly depends on this.
Step 3
You can also make a collapsible knitting fork. For this we are already preparing two knitting needles, the same. In addition to the knitting needles, we need: small bolts with nuts, a piece of brass or tin, a drill, sandpaper.
Step 4
Cut a strip out of metal (strip width 1, 5 - 2 cm), process sharp edges. After that, we bend the resulting workpiece three times.
Step 5
We drill holes for the bolts that will be fixed in the spoke sleeve. We insert the knitting needles into the bend points and fasten them with bolts and nuts. On the back, you can use an eraser instead of the holder. To do this, you will need to cut it into 2 equal parts lengthwise and insert the needles into it. The needles can be regular knitting needles or from a set for knitting socks. Our fork is ready.
Step 6
When knitting with a fork, you can use the following types of yarn: cordone - for finishing linen, alization - for decorating pieces of furniture with fringe, double-rolled woolen yarn for shawls. And for the quality of knitting to be high, you need to look at the quality of the thread. It should be well curled.
