A picture of a cake can decorate a holiday card or poster. Drawing a cake is easy - you can use crayons, acrylics, pastels, watercolors or gouache.

Making a pencil sketch

Draw fine lines with a sharp, hard pencil. After finishing the drawing, all auxiliary strokes can be easily erased.

Try drawing a stylized three-layer cake with candles. Start from the bottom layer. Draw short, parallel lines for the sides. Connect their lower ends with an even arc - you get the base of the cake. Then connect the upper parts of the sidewalls with the same arc.

Draw vertical lines to indicate the sides of the second tier of the cake. It should be slightly smaller than the first. Connect the ends of the side lines with arcs. Repeat the operation for the last tier - it should be the smallest.

Cake design: frosting and candles

Start decorating the cake. Draw cherries with tails at the base of the upper and middle tier. Draw rounded wavy lines closer to the upper border of the last tier - they will represent fondant or chocolate icing with characteristic "streaks". Decorate the next tiers with the same lines. Try to keep them asymmetrical - the more naturalistic the streaks look, the better.

Duplicate the arched lines at the base of the cakes, drawing them in the center of each layer. These stripes will represent a layer of cream or jam. Draw birthday candles with tongues of flame across all the tiers of the cake. The top layer can be topped with one candle or a cherry with a ponytail.

Erase the guide lines with an eraser, and then trace the drawing with a sharpened soft pencil or felt-tip pen.

Birthday cake in color

The resulting drawing can be colored with colored pencils or paints. Try to paint with acrylic - the colors will turn out bright, and the drawing will look very appetizing. On a plastic palette, mix yellow and white paints until a baked biscuit is golden brown. Paint over the cake layers with the resulting shade, without getting beyond the icing. Use pink or red paint to outline the lines of the cream layer.

The drawing can be decorated with dry glitter. Mark the lines with clear nail polish, then sprinkle glitter on them and pat dry.

Fill the wavy lines of the glaze with brown. Let the paint dry, dip the brush in white acrylic and add some highlights to simulate the sheen of the chocolate glaze.

Paint the candles on the cake with white, paint the flame with golden yellow. Gently paint over the cherries on the cake in a rich burgundy color. For a more natural look, you can put a small light highlight on each berry. Circle the petioles in black-brown paint, in the same color mark the wicks in the candles. The finished drawing is suitable not only for a postcard - it can become a template for embroidery or applique work, decorate a badge, earrings or other jewelry.
