You don't have to buy a professional set of dozens of different cans to get the color you want. Color flair and knowledge of the basic rules for mixing paints will help you to mix tones on your own.
Instructions
Mix the paint. Remember the base colors. These are blue, red and yellow. All other shades are derived from them and are reduced to a combination of these primary colors, with the addition of black and white. The warm range is based on mixing red and yellow paint. By mixing white with red, you can achieve a bright pink hue, and combining red with yellow and black, you make the color colder, it is enough to add a hint of blue to it. For subtle color nuances, mix enough green, orange, blue, purple and brown. They are required for most shades.
Use black paint to get rid of excess brightness, make the color darker, give it depth and complexity. Black paint requires extremely careful handling. If you are mixing paints in the palette, lightly touch the black paint with the tip of a thin dry brush. Remember also that pure black does not exist in nature, as well as pure white. Therefore, a little black paint should be applied to a white sheet of paper before mixing. If a dark blue, purple or brown is clearly guessed in black, it is better not to use paint.
Add white for subtle lighter shades. It is necessary for creating pastel colors: delicate beige, light pink, pistachio shades. Keep in mind, however, that you will not get bright, vibrant colors if you use a lot of white. White paint can be added in larger quantities than black paint. However, it is usually quite thick in consistency, so remember to dilute it with water.
