Biography of Raymond Pauls as an exciting melody. The boy grew up in a creative family, a dream about music from early childhood. At the age of 10, in 1946, he first got the opportunity to study with a real teacher. The teacher was extremely surprised that his young ward could create beautiful melodies without mastering musical notation, and all of them, without exception, should be remembered.
At first, the "friendship" of young Raymond Pauls and musical notation did not work out in any way, but long hours of persistent cramming did their job - the literacy was mastered.
In high school, Raymond became interested in jazz. This style was in demand at that time only at dance evenings, and Pauls gladly performed there as an accompanist, playing popular melodies on the piano without notes.
In 1964, there was a sharp career leap for the future world famous maestro - he was entrusted with the post of head of the Riga Pop Orchestra, he got the opportunity to present compositions of his own composition to a wider audience. And just 11 years later, his songs sounded from all radios, from TV screens, from every window and in every soul.

At the end of May 2019, information appeared in various publications that the maestro was charged that he allegedly did not pay taxes for a significant amount - 14,000 euros. The composer was outraged, said that he already replenishes the treasury regularly and for large sums. Pauls sincerely did not understand where such a huge debt came from.
Numerous fans also wondered how their favorite could get into such an unpleasant situation, which could even turn into legal proceedings at any time.
Later it turned out that the tax arrears of Raimonds Pauls are the result of the so-called “floating” tax rate, which is practiced in Latvia. Nevertheless, the star composer was extremely outraged, even threatened to emigrate from his homeland.
Where and why did Raimonds Pauls leave Latvia?
In fact, all of the maestros' relatives left Latvia long ago. Recently, Raymond Pauls himself decided to follow their example. In one of his interviews, he admitted with regret that his children and grandchildren are a different world, a different society, different songs and music.
But later he changed his mind and even claimed that he had no such plans, and the rumors about his emigration from Latvia were just a stupid invention of journalists. Which of the confessions of the maestro is true and which is not - one can only guess.
