Science fiction - from the Greek "fiction, impossible" - a genre in several types of arts. The plot of a fantastic work is made up of unreal conditions that are unacceptable in our world. In science fiction, the action often takes place in the distant future and is associated with strong technological progress. The authors of this genre are often scholars at the same time. But it is not necessary to graduate from Physics and Technology and Philology at the same time to write a science fiction novel.

Instructions

Step 1

It all starts with an idea. Sometimes it comes by itself, without any effort on the part of the author, but more often you have to strenuously search for it. The requirements for the idea are as follows: the action time is any, but the conditions are different from the real world. For example, a world where people, for one reason or another, cannot walk on the earth. They have to either fly or move using special platforms.

Step 2

The hero can enter your world from the present or be born there. In the first case, a conflict between the familiar and the new immediately arises in it; in the second, this conflict must develop from a series of events. As a result, the question should arise: why is it impossible to walk on the earth, if a person was born for this? The hero must interact with other characters who save him from mistakes and death, hinder or help to find the answer to the question posed.

Step 3

Write down all the events and steps of the hero on paper (on paper, not in a computer), leaving one or more blank lines between events. Later, you will write in the voids additional details, links and lines connecting the plot.

Step 4

If you use scientific and technical terms, keep your sentences as short and simple as possible. For example, in some works of S. Lemma there are sentences of four to five lines, and most of the words in them are just terms. Few readers will be able to understand such literature from the first reading. Make it easier for your target audience by limiting the size of sentences to one to one and a half lines.

Step 5

Send the hero to find a solution to the issue. In the course of the action, use all your scientific and technical knowledge, refer to reference books and encyclopedias. In general, it is advisable to start work not even with the search for an idea, but with reading scientific and sci-fi literature. Explore expressiveness in the work of other authors and the evidence in scientific work.

Step 6

At the moment of the climax, your hero learns the answer to the question that interests him and faces the main enemy who prevented him from learning the truth. For the acuity of sensations, this may be his closest friend, with whom it will be especially difficult to fight. As a result of the struggle, he either wins or dies (depending on your plan). In case of death, you must create the impression that the step was necessary: the hero could not cope with his own passions, change the situation for the better, did not change at all during the action. If you want to keep the hero alive, justify his salvation: he changed, coped with his fear, overcame himself, helped someone separately or many at once.

Step 7

In the denouement, describe the fruits of your hero's victory: how much better the world has become, what feelings the other heroes experience. Don't make the ending too long, because the main action has already ended.
