A real work of art can be sculpted from polymer clay (plastic). Plastic allows you to create thin and small details, moreover, a bright and rich pattern can be transferred to polymer clay.
It is necessary
- - picture;
- - workpiece made of polymer clay;
- - acrylic paints;
- - brush.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the pattern that you would like to apply to the polymer clay. It can be drawn on a regular sheet of paper. Place the picture face up on a pallet and brush a thin layer of liquid polymer clay onto it with a brush. Bake the plastic, then separate the printed sheet from the workpiece. If the paper sticks to the product, place a damp cloth on it to soak it and separate it from the polymer clay.
Step 2
There is another way of transferring a picture to plastic. Take a ready-made, but not yet painted, product. It should be raw (unbaked). Place a slightly damp picture paper face down on the polymer clay very tightly. Hold for a few minutes, bending the edge of the drawing from time to time to see if the picture has translated. A fresh image that just came out from under the printer is applied to the plastic faster than anyone else.
Step 3
When the outline of the future drawing is clearly visible, color the product. It is best to use acrylic paint for painting plastic. If there is no acrylic paint, add acrylic varnish or PVA glue to the gouache or watercolor. To paint polymer clay with watercolors, first apply a white primer to the piece. Do not use oil based paints, they do not dry completely on plastic and make the surface sticky. Minus acrylic paints - when they dry, they become noticeably darker, consider this point.
Step 4
Other paints can be used to paint polymer clay products. Using ink, create textures on the unbaked plastic. You will get smooth transitions between colors with an aerosol, but for such a paint to fit well, polish the surface of polymer clay and cover with acrylic primer. For a metallic effect, mix pearlescent powder with acrylic thinner or sprinkle on unbaked plastic. Cover the fully painted product with varnish and let dry.
