Soviet cinema has presented the world with many real masterpieces that are included in the "Golden Fund". During the collapse of the USSR, Russian cinema experienced a profound crisis. New times dictated different rules. Many films are being shot in Russia now, but most of them are of dubious quality. But is it really that bad?

The Russian sequel is always a failure

Why do you need to shoot a sequel to popularly loved films filmed at another time and in another country? After the continuation of "The Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath", which, by the way, made good box office receipts in the country, a whole series of such films was filmed.

Office Romance 2, Gentlemen of Fortune, Gas Station Queen 2, Carnival Night 2 or 50 Years Later - the list goes on. All these films cannot be called worthy of attention.

People go to the cinema hoping to see the continuation of their beloved story, but they get a crude fake. None of these films have become a worthy sequel to the immortal films.

Unsuccessful Russian films about the war

The Great Patriotic War is a tragic event that affected everyone in Russia, therefore films about this war are invariably popular. However, modern Russian cinema cannot boast of a large number of good films on this topic.

As a rule, directors are scolded for historical inconsistencies and free interpretation of events.

The film "Star" (2002) directed by Nikolai Lebedev was shot in all the traditions of war cinema and really deserves attention.

Contemporary masterpieces

Along with outright failures, good films are also shot in Russia, which are remembered by the viewer, and which are recommended for viewing.

"Home" (2011). Crime drama directed by Oleg Pogodin. This film became an event in Russian cinema. The action of the picture takes place in the South of Russia, where in the middle of the steppe there is a house in which a large family lives. A film about love and family values.

"Legend No. 17" (2013). Film biography of the great Soviet hockey player Valery Kharlamov, who died very early. On September 2, 1972, in Canada, the USSR national team defeated the Canadians with a score of 7: 3 and declared its strength to the whole world.

"Island" (2006). Directed by Pavel Lungin. The main role is played by Pyotr Mamonov, a cult personality of the 90s. Wonderful acting plus an extraordinary atmosphere make this film a real masterpiece of modern cinema.

"The geographer drank the globe" (2013). Social drama based on the novel of the same name by Alexei Ivanov. A young biologist is forced to go to work as a teacher in a school. Beautiful outdoor shooting and brilliant acting work of Konstantin Khabensky.

Cococo (2012). A movie about friendship between complete opposites. Liza is a representative of the intelligentsia, Vika is a typical provincial. The will of chance pushes the two girls together. They are completely different, the more interesting it is to keep track of their relationship.

Chapito-show (2012). The film has four short stories entitled: Love, Friendship, Respect and Cooperation. The movie was shot in the genre of comedy. There is no point in telling the plot, you just have to watch this brilliant film directed by Sergei Loban.
