Evening photography is a special direction in photography. Difficult lighting conditions make it possible to take fantastic shots, but it requires patience, skills, long training and experimentation.

Step 1
Make it a rule to make an exposure whenever possible. Be sure to use a tripod as taking pictures in the evening often have to take long exposures. To avoid blurring the frame, use a remote shutter release method (IR remote control, cable) or the camera's self-timer. Long exposures require a lot of energy, watch out for the battery charge (it is better to always have a spare kit with you).
Step 2
City Evening photography of the city can be made at medium exposures due to streetlights and neon lights on the streets. Choose an angle and a shooting point in advance, so that when dusk falls, you will focus exclusively on the game and the fusion of natural and artificial light. When metering the exposure, avoid the presence of point light sources in the metering area, as this can lead to underexposure. Illumination of buildings and monuments allows you to take very effective pictures. When determining shutter speed and aperture values, make allowances for the nature of the subject. The light meter cannot take into account, for example, that the walls of the building being filmed are white, or that the monument is cast in dark metal.
Step 3
Amusement park, fireworks The amusement park has enough lighting, so shooting in the evening can be done handheld. If there is a lack of light, use an external medium power flash in fill mode. Use a tripod and a wide-angle lens for general shots and fireworks. In between fireworks, cover the lens with your hand. If it is possible to introduce any illuminated object (monument, spire of a building) into the frame with the fireworks, be sure to do it. This will improve the sense of space in the picture.
Step 4
SunsetSunsets are usually captured with telephoto lenses. Select the angle for shooting in the evening on a bright sky. Clouds and haze, scattering sunlight, make it soft and make it possible to include the sun disc in the frame. If the sky is bright, the best silhouette scenes are obtained in the first 10-15 minutes after sunset. Don't miss the moment. Measure the exposure over areas of the sky with average brightness. Measure near the horizon after sunset. When shooting a silhouette, make sure it is positioned against a sufficiently bright background and does not blend in with the dark details of the surrounding landscape.
