Landing and choosing the best place
Growing bamboo begins with planting. Having bought it in a small pot, you must certainly take care of another container, since such a plant grows very quickly in height. If you do not use it immediately, then in the future, repeated transplantation of bamboo will be required. There must be drainage in the bottom of the prepared container. For this it is recommended to make 6-7 small holes.
Now you can move on to preparing the soil. It should be borne in mind that bamboo is not too whimsical to the ground. Therefore, clay soil with compost can be used. A small amount of organic fertilizer is necessarily introduced into it. Then you can replant the bamboo. Make sure that its root system is at least 5-6 cm from the walls of the container. Otherwise, the plant may begin to wilt due to the fact that its lower part will come into contact with a metal or clay surface.
When the bamboo is transplanted, choose the best location for it. There are two options for placing this plant. The first provides for a place where the bamboo will be constantly exposed to sunlight. In the second case, you can place the bamboo where there is an optimal balance of light and shadow.
Watering and caring for bamboo
When growing bamboo at home, special attention should be paid to watering it. Since it is a tropical plant, it is easy to understand that it loves moisture. Therefore, you need to practice abundant and daily watering. To be sure that the plant has enough moisture, you need to constantly monitor it. So, when the bamboo leaves begin to curl up a little, it means that there is a shortage of water, and if they hang down, then watering should be done more moderately. In this case, the humidification mode must be changed in accordance with the season. In winter, bamboo requires much less water than in summer.
It is recommended to apply mineral fertilizer to the soil every 3 weeks. Prune bamboo in the spring. If there is a need for its reproduction, then this must be done by dividing the rhizome. It is better to do this in late spring.
