Decorative bottle covered with leather is a fashionable and stylish accessory. It can decorate any modern interior and become a wonderful gift. Such handicrafts are in demand among private craftsmen and in some shops. However, it is much more valuable not to buy a unique item, but to make it yourself. Show a little imagination - and from a beautiful container and an unnecessary leather flap, you will get an original vase.

It is necessary

  • - a piece of leather (suede, leatherette);
  • - scissors;
  • - bottle;
  • - a container with warm water;
  • - PVA glue (polyvinyl acetate);
  • - cardboard (soft plastic);
  • - a strip of leather for a tie;
  • - decorative elements to taste (acrylic paint, appliques, beads, etc.).

Instructions

Step 1

Find a bottle with an interesting shape that can serve as a suitable frame for your intended composition. Be sure to wash the labels and any dirt, dry the container thoroughly and degrease it on the outside with acetone. This is necessary so that the glue adheres better to both glass and leather.

Step 2

Use a soft and thin leather or suede rag to cover the bottle - this material will be easier to work with. As a last resort, any cut - natural or leatherette - will do. To make the flesh more pliable, cut out a part of the desired shape and soak it for two to three hours in warm water.

Step 3

Try covering the bottle with leather without letting it dry. Pull it tightly over the glass surface to smooth out wrinkles. If the folds are your design idea, shape them carefully.

Step 4

Dry the cover on the glass with a hair dryer, section by section. Now you can remove the skin from the frame - it will take the desired shape.

Step 5

Apply PVA glue to the wrong side of the working flap and immediately start wrapping the bottle in it. Press the skin against the glass, pat the entire bonded surface. Tuck the lower edges of the leather cover and glue to the bottom of the container.

Step 6

Cut out two circles around the bottom - thick cardboard (soft plastic) and leather. Lubricate the leather part with glue and wrap it around a solid template. Cover the bottom of the bottle with the resulting circle.

Step 7

Shape the neck of the container beautifully. Folds will inevitably appear on its grooved surface, so play them interestingly - drape beautifully and tie with a leather strip-bow.

Step 8

You can decorate the finished "shirt" of the bottle at your discretion. For example, trim it with lace leather braid, buttons, oversized beads, or haberdashery appliqués.

Step 9

The beauty of a quality natural material can be enhanced by saturating it with beeswax. If the old leather or leatherette has a lot of signs of wear, the cover can be painted with acrylic paint. Use a spray can or a foam sponge - dip it in the desired color and gently blot the surface to be decorated.

Step 10

A bottle with a smooth leather cover can be decorated using the decoupage technique - paper applique. To do this, choose a napkin with a suitable pattern and prepare an oval background - paint it white and let dry.

Step 11

Cut out the top paper layer from the colorful napkin and glue it onto the white oval. Iron any creases to prevent air bubbles from collecting under the picture. Let the glue dry, then apply the final touch to the bottle decor - cover the paint and design with varnish.
