Step 1
A trumpet hat (or a collar) is an ideal solution to replace a headgear and a scarf at the same time. If you are at least a little familiar with the art of knitting, try making this versatile piece.
Step 2
Prepare woolen yarn for knitting, preferably thicker. The yarn can be of the most varied: smooth or "shaped" - ribbon, bouclé, fluffy. A mohair thread folded in half with a smooth woolen thread is also good for work. Also, prepare the knitting needles. When knitting a pipe cap, you can use long straight knitting needles or circular needles, as it is more convenient for you. The thickness of the knitting needles should be approximately equal to the thickness of the knitting thread.

For ease of comparison, put the knitting needles next to the threads from which you plan to knit a cap-pipe.

Perform the necessary measurements and calculations before starting work. First of all, measure the circumference of your head under your chin with a centimeter. Write down or remember the received data. Now you need to decide on a knitting pattern. For this product, it is better to choose a voluminous and elastic pattern. The "English elastic" pattern will work very well. It fits like this: 1 row - alternate front and back loops. The 2nd and all subsequent rows - knit the front loops with the front loops, remove the purl loops with the yarn over. You can also use other patterns for your model. For example, Swedish, patent rubber bands, harnesses or any other pattern of your choice.
Step 5
After that, tie the sample - it should be 20-30 stitches wide, 20-30 rows high. Remove from the needle, pull the sample harder in all directions. Then count how many loops fit in one centimeter. To find out the number of stitches required for a set per knitting needles, multiply the circumference of the head by the number of stitches in one centimeter. Then type the loops according to the received calculations and start knitting the hat.
Step 6
Knit the first rows with a single or double elastic band. To do this, alternate one front, one purl (if you decide to knit a single elastic band) or two purl and two front loops if you intend to knit a double elastic. Knit like this no more than three centimeters. Then go to the main pattern. You need to knit quite tightly so that the finished pipe hat does not lose its shape during the process of wearing. You need to knit at least 60-70 centimeters. In order for the hat to cover the neck and shoulders freely, it is recommended to knit a few centimeters longer. After the main knitted fabric is ready, finish knitting with the same elastic band as you started the work. After that close the loops, sew the product by hand with the same thread along the long edges. You have a knitted "pipe".
Step 7
If you want, try knitting the pipe cap in a different, seamless way. In this case, the product must be knitted on circular knitting needles or on five long straight knitting needles.
Step 8
Measure the circumference of your face and add an additional 5 cm to the result so that the hat is slightly looser. Tie a test piece to calculate the knit density.
Step 9
Type the required number of loops on the knitting needles, distribute evenly on the knitting needles (if you are knitting on five knitting needles) and knit with any elastic band. You need to knit until your product becomes such in length that you can put on the pipe like a hat, and at the same time the neck should be closed.
Step 10
Another version of the cap-pipe - the cap-collar - looks no less interesting in practice. The approximate consumption of yarn for this model will average 150-200 g. It is better to knit from thick yarn and on thick knitting needles. Such a hat can be knitted in a strip, in a cage (from different balls0, or with a relief pattern of monophonic threads.
Step 11
Tie a sample blanket. In this example, there are two loops in one centimeter.

Tie the hood first. Knit the hood on two needles in a horizontal elastic pattern. She knits according to the following pattern.
Knit 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th rows with front loops.
2, 5th rows - purl loops.
Step 13
The hood can be tied with a straight cloth and with a toe on the chest, so that there are fewer gathers on the neck, and the chest is better covered.
All calculations are based on the condition that the head circumference is 56 cm. Considering that the knitting density in the test sample was 2 loops per centimeter, cast on 112 loops on the needles. Add 50 more loops to knit the toe.
In total, you get 112 + 50 + 2 edging = 164 loops.
Step 14
Perform the hood from the corner. To do this, cast on 164 loops on the needles and at the end of each row, knit 2 loops together into one (the last and the edge). Decrease the loops until you have subtracted a total of 50 loops dialed for the toe. Try on the hood while knitting, as in the course of work, there may be some changes in the calculation of the loops.
Step 15
If the hood turns out to be too wide, subtract the extra loops, if small, leave a few loops from the toe.
Step 16
After all the reductions have been made, you will have a fabric that will need to be knitted with a straight fabric 35-40 cm high. Finish the hood with stocking knit (front row - all front loops, purl - all purl loops). In this way, knit 12-16 rows. Then close all the loops.
Step 17
Thread the thread you used to knit into a darning needle with a large eye and carefully sew according to the pattern.
