Bunny hop is an element of trial cycling - a mountain biking discipline that involves overcoming obstacles on a bicycle. Bunny hop (bunny hop) is translated from English as "bunny jump" and is a jump on a bicycle from acceleration without twisting the pedals.
It is necessary
- - Mountain bike;
- - helmet and protective equipment of the cyclist.
Instructions
Step 1
Take care of your safety before starting workouts. Jumping on a mountain bike can be seriously injured. Make sure your bike is in good working order. Be sure to wear a helmet, cycling gloves, elbow pads and knee pads. Of course, you should start training by jumping over an imaginary obstacle.
Step 2
Take the starting position for the jump. After accelerating, move forward. Keep your feet on the pedals, but do not rotate them.
Step 3
Bend forward slightly before jumping, transferring your body weight to the front wheel. There are no specific guidelines for when to start the jump. As a rule, the higher the obstacle, the earlier you need to enter the bunny hop. However, a lot depends on the rider's weight, acceleration speed, bike model and individual jumping technique.
Step 4
Dash to jump. Shift your weight back by pulling the handlebars towards your body. To do this, straighten your whole body sharply. Straighten your legs at the same time. This movement is much like a normal jump. Block the wheels by pedaling backward. The height of the bunny hop depends on the strength of the jerk.
Step 5
When the bike is off the ground, start bending your knees. Do not let the steering wheel go down, keep pulling it towards you. The more you bend your knees, the higher the front wheel will go.
Step 6
Land without releasing the brakes, otherwise you will not avoid falling. Your position at the time of landing should be as follows: legs bent as much as possible, arms straight, body stretched back along the bike. You are almost sitting on the back wheel.
Step 7
In the classic version of the bunny hop, land on the rear wheel. After touching the ground, still hold the brakes. Place your feet on the pedals evenly. Hold the steering wheel with your elbows bent at an angle of 90 degrees. Keep your balance for a while by making small jumps on the rear wheel. Then lower your bike and continue driving.
