Step 1
Select straight branches. In order to make your own onions, you will need straight tree branches. Juniper, birch, maple, hazel, yew or oak are good choices. Don't think that you will make a good bow by simply bending a branch. In this case, the arrows of your bow will fly close, and its value will be small. Cut your onion out of a whole piece of wood, having previously steamed the workpiece. A real bow for hunting should have upper and lower shoulders and a handle, remember that the correct length of the bow should be equal to the length of your arms when swinging.
Step 2
Find Rawhide to craft a bowstring. You will need leather that is about 3 mm thick. You can make a string from the twisted stalks of a sturdy plant, such as nettles. As an option - making a bowstring from shoelaces from shoes. You can make a bowstring from animal tendons. The ideal option is a tendon that runs through the spine in a large animal such as a moose or a cow. But in this case, you will have to kill the animal without the bow in order to get the material for the bowstring. The distance between the bowstring and the bow should be about 20 centimeters. In order to put on the bowstring, you should rest its lower end on the ground. Stand in such a way that the middle of the bow touches the leg from the back, then put on the string with one hand, bending the bow with the other.
Step 3
Make arrows depending on your needs. For arrows, blanks from pine or birch are most suitable. The boom should be about 90 cm long and about 1 cm in diameter. Make the feathers for the arrows. It will increase your range and therefore make your arrows more effective. Place several bird feathers equidistant from each other at the end of the arrow. If you are going to hunt birds and small animals, then you do not need to make arrowheads. But any tip does more damage to your victim. You can make it by tying a sharp stone or a piece of tin. If you do not want to make an arrowhead, just sharpen them and burn them at the stake.
