Step 1
When making a bowstring, keep in mind that it is not made from one cord, but from several threads. For such a material, prepare threads made from artificial fibers. It is important that they are strong: silk, lavsan, nylon are suitable. You can also make a bowstring from a regular fishing line, which is sold in reels. The most important thing is that the thread is strong and not frayed. It doesn't really matter how thick the thread is. Depending on its thickness, you will vary the number of turns in the process.
Step 2
To make a high-quality bowstring for a bow, you need to approach this task with all responsibility. First, prepare a makeshift bowstring reel. It can be a regular board with a few pins at a sufficient distance. Also, for such an activity, a stool is also suitable, which must be turned upside down and wound with threads. See exactly how many turns you need. After winding, the ends of the threads must be tied with a reliable knot.
Step 3
In the place where the bowstring will be worn on the bow, make a special winding for protection. This must be done so that the string does not wear off. The winding must be wound on both sides of the string. Note that when wrapping around the side where there is a knot on the string, you must hide it.
Step 4
After that, make a loop from the finished bowstring to put the bowstring on the bow. The loop must be rewound tightly at the base. About the middle of the bowstring, also make a 15 cm winding. This will be exactly where the fingers fall during the shooting process. You can also make a special thickening in the middle: it will be more convenient to hold the arrow.
Step 5
The bowstring is now completely ready. Secure it carefully to the base of the bow. Experts advise making several copies of such a bowstring at once, so that in case of damage it can be quickly replaced.
