The founder and leader of the international and Russian digger movement Vadim Mikhailov came up with the idea of calling these dashing guys diggers after he made his first descent. In the dictionary he found the English verb ‘to dig’, which means to dig.
Children of the dungeons
Diggers, however, are not diggers at all. Rather, they are researchers. Their activity resembles the work of speleologists exploring caves, but diggers prefer objects created by human hands and abandoned by humans as objects of research.
Diggering is not a profession, but a hobby, just like diving, sports tourism or rock climbing. The only purpose of these guys is entertainment. They descend into tunnels and sewers, explore abandoned military and industrial facilities.

The digger's outfit is comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty or torn, powerful flashlights (since they most often make their sorties at night or underground in impenetrable darkness), respiratory masks and other elementary protective equipment, as well as a first aid kit. Digging is still a dangerous business. Knowledgeable people also recommend that you always have documents wrapped in cellophane with you to avoid problems with the police.
Diggers are often asked who can be found underground. Among fans of diggerism there are stories about meter-long rats, secret sectarian underground societies and all kinds of fabulous animals. In fact, more often the danger to diggers is posed by homeless people, utility workers and the police, since the activities of diggers are in no way enshrined in legislation.
The special services sometimes turn to the help of diggers so that they can get into the blocked objects. So, for example, it was after the terrorist attack on Dubrovka.
Diggers have their own unwritten code, violation of which, firstly, is life-threatening, and secondly, it can lead to problems with the law. If the object is active or classified, then you cannot enter there. If there is a sign "I shoot without warning" on the gate, it means that they will indeed shoot. Diggers should not be engaged in looting and spoil objects, leave inscriptions and any objects in places where they are. They do not touch the wires, do not press buttons and switches, check whether the fasteners, supports and stairs are rotten.

Everyone answers this question for himself. Digging is a rather interesting activity, sometimes the participants in the movement manage to make incredible archaeological discoveries. The underground world of the city is completely different from the terrestrial one.
Diggers have their own special slang. For example, "light" is a flashlight, "aboriginal" is a local resident, "monter" is an employee of utilities.
However, people who are afraid of dangers, who do not want to risk their lives and health, do not like places where it is dirty, dark, damp and smells bad, it is better to give up this venture.
