Instructions
Step 1
Take the chair apart. Unscrew all screws. Pry on the side with a screwdriver and pull out the soft seat. If there are soft elements in the back, then they must also be removed.
Step 2
Soak the bonded connectors with hot water. Tie a stubborn knot with a wet rag, wrap with plastic wrap and leave for 15 minutes. The water will soak the glue, and the spike can be loosened and separated.
Step 3
Clean out dust and debris from all grooves and cracks. To do this, moisten a cloth with ethyl or ammonia and rinse all parts. If a wooden spike is broken, pull it out with pliers and drive in a new one.
Step 4
Coat the grooves and spikes with wood glue. Reconnect the entire chair. Roll the string around the chair legs so that the glue adheres to the surface thoroughly. Leave to dry for a couple of hours.
Step 5
Take care of the upholstery. Cut out a piece of foam that fits your seat. Cut out the upholstery fabric, leaving 10 cm on the hem on each side. Place glue on the wooden base in several places. Place the foam on the glue, cover it with a cloth. Turn the structure over to its back. Fold over the edges of the fabric, provided for the hem, and secure them with a stapler to the wooden seat.
Step 6
For a padded back, make two patterns. One piece will cover the foam rubber, make an allowance of 8-10 cm on it. The second piece will cover the back from the outside, leave a 2-3 cm allowance on it. Glue the foam rubber to the back, cover it with a cloth. Staple the fabric from the back. Fold the outer part around the edges and carefully attach it to the back with staples or furniture studs.
Step 7
Sand all wood parts of the assembled chair. This can be done with a sander or sandpaper. Buy a special attachment for attaching sandpaper to it. Or take a piece of a block and apply sandpaper to it so as not to damage your hands during work.
Step 8
Prime the chair. Dilute primer according to label directions. Use a paintbrush or roller to brush over all wooden parts of the chair. Dry.
Step 9
Cover the chair with varnish. Dry it off. The chair has become rough to the touch. Sand it with fine-grained sandpaper. Varnish again. Use 4-5 coats of varnish to keep the chair smooth and not scratched.
Step 10
Replace the soft parts of the chair.
