The everyday life of an ordinary Uber driver can seem boring and monotonous from the outside. This is most often the case. But not in the case of Stu, who, after a trip with an unusual passenger, finds himself in a whole kaleidoscope of mind-blowing events.
The film crew of the comedy "Ali, rudders!"
In April 2016, 20th Century Fox acquired the script for Ali, Ruli! (Stuber) from Tripper Clancy Corporation. Later, a six-figure contract was signed with producers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly, who directed the film.
In December 2017, a casting crew was cast. As a result, Dave Batista was invited to the lead role, and Michael Dawes was announced as the director of the film. The actor for the second leading role was found only a few months later: in March 2018, Kumail Nanjiani signed a contract with the film's producers.
Painting "Ali, rudders!" is a brilliant duo between Pakistani actor Kumail Nanjiani and Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Batista. The main comic line of the film is built on their contrast.
Dave Batista is very organic in this role. The actor's childhood was spent in criminal quarters: according to his own recollections, he repeatedly witnessed crimes, including murders. Often he himself had to break the law, so in the past, Dave even has a criminal record. However, at the age of 18, the guy found the strength to turn his life in a different direction. Batista took up bodybuilding, and it saved him. He has made a dizzying career in sports, repeatedly becoming the world champion in mixed martial arts. The corresponding texture of the actor with a height of 1.98 m largely determined his role. However, Dave is not at all embarrassed by this development of events and he is ready to continue playing frightening giants and formidable mafiosi.
Kumail Nanjiani is the complete opposite of his counterpart. The actor himself, who moved to the United States at the age of 18, received an excellent education and made an excellent film career as a producer and supporting actor. The role of "Ali, rudders!" - one of the first major for Kumale, and he coped with his task brilliantly.

What is the film “Ali, rudders!” About?
The job of a taxi driver is hardly exciting. Endless applications and monotonous routes, eternal rush and coffee in a paper cup in rare pauses. This is what Stu, an Uber driver, has to do at work. The routine is interrupted only by a new passenger, Vic, a brutal bruiser, whose trip turns into an exciting and sometimes very dangerous adventure. The frightening client turns out to be a detective who hunts for a dangerous criminal.
Soon, the shy Stu finds himself unwittingly embroiled in an incredible ordeal in which he must keep his wits, avoid danger and work with his passenger, while maintaining a high customer service rating. At first, the taxi driver does not even suspect what is really happening, only following the passenger's instructions, but soon he himself takes an active part in the pursuits and shootings. Thanks to dangerous, difficult and comical situations, mutual hostility between the characters develops into a strong friendship.
World premiere of the film "Ali, rudders!" took place on March 13, 2019. The release date of the film in Russia is July 11, 2019 by Twentieth Century Fox CIS.
