And then Tom's mother and father divorced, the boy and his three sisters remained in the mother's care.

The main villain of the film was played by the inimitable Philip Hoffman, an American director, film and theater actor and producer born in 1967. He conquered the pinnacle of the acting profession when he was already elderly - the peak of his career came in 2006, when Hoffman won an Oscar and a number of other awards for outstanding work in the historical drama Capote.

Despite his success in cinema, Philip remained loyal to the theater all his life, founding his own company LAByrinth. Over the 25 years of his acting career, Hoffman has earned a reputation as an actor who knows how to play absolutely everything - he obeyed all roles and genres. At the same time, he remained a performer of secondary roles, rarely performing on the set as a leading actor. Hoffman passed away in 2014 in his Manhattan apartment from a drug overdose he had become addicted to in recent years.

Minor roles

Declan Gromley was played by the charismatic Irishman Jonathan Rhys-Myers, born in 1977. He spent his childhood in County Cork, and constantly "delighted" parents with runaways from home and serious problems at school. However, Jonathan's adventurous and active nature allowed him to get his first film role at the age of 17. An interesting fact: starting to act in films, the actor took his mother's maiden name, who kicked him out of the house at the age of 16 for constant hooliganism. Currently, Jonathan is happily married, he has a son and the actor is successfully pursuing his high-profile career.

Director Theodore Brassel was played by the famous black actor Laurence Fishburne, the star of the cult film The Matrix. Born in the USA in 1961, he worked in an acting studio since childhood thanks to his stepfather, an English professor, who noticed Larry's artistic gift. Fishburne's film debut was a little dishonest: the 14-year-old lied about his age to get the part. Of course, later the deception was revealed, but, as you know, the winners are not judged. But the guy's brave act was the subject of numerous anecdotes, and he himself had extremely useful acquaintances. Working on the set today, Lawrence does not forget the theater, but at the same time is engaged in directing.
