When knitting products with a set-in sleeve, it is sometimes necessary to perform a shoulder bevel. This is especially important when making blouses and dresses from fine yarn. In this case, the flaws in the cut are very noticeable, and it is almost impossible to hide them. Such products are best knitted according to a pattern, having made an accurate calculation of the loops.

It is necessary

  • - unrelated detail of the product:
  • - Knitting:
  • - knitting needles by thread thickness;
  • - product pattern;
  • - a sheet of paper and a pencil.

Instructions

Step 1

Build a product pattern on graph paper. This is more convenient because it allows you to quickly and more accurately calculate the loops for any decrease or increase in the width of the part. Find the beginning of the shoulder bevel A on the pattern and draw a straight line L from this point, perpendicular to the midline of the part. Depending on the style, this straight line will reach either one of the points of the neckline or the midline. From the point of the base of the neck B (it is located where the line of the bevel of the shoulder passes into the line of the neck), release the perpendicular to line L. Label the point as C.

Step 2

Before knitting, make an accurate calculation of the number of loops along the width of the row and the number of rows along the height of the product. Measure all the segments of the ACB right-angled triangle. Count how many stitches you need to remove and for how many rows. At the same time, keep in mind that you will have to close the loops either at the beginning or at the end of the row, so divide the result obtained by 2. Divide the number of loops intended for closing by this value. If you cannot divide completely, close 1-2 loops of the remainder in the first row. If more, distribute them evenly.

Step 3

There are two ways to knit a bevel. In the first case, at the beginning of the row, close the number of loops obtained by dividing. Tie the row to the end, turn over the knitting, tie the row completely and at the beginning of the next, close the required number of loops again. Do all the other rows in this way.

Step 4

In the second case, the bevel is performed in shortened rows. Having knitted the row almost to the end, leave as many loops on the left knitting needle as you get when dividing. Turn the work over and knit the second row completely. On the third, in addition to the already untied ones, leave the same number of loops on the knitting needle. In the last row, close all the loops. For knitting openwork products with a complex calculation of the pattern, this method is preferable. It allows you to continue the pattern, almost without changing it, until the very end.
