Gurchenko was born in Kharkov on November 12, 1935. It seems that being an artist was written in her family. Lyudmila's parents were musicians, they worked together in the Kharkov Philharmonic. Often they took their daughter to their performances. But even at home, the atmosphere of a musical holiday reigned. From an early age, the girl wanted to become an artist. Later, in her memoirs, she said that the support of her father, who approved of her choice to follow a creative path in life, gave her a special faith in herself. Lyudmila Markovna did not leave this path until her very last days.

The road of truth

With the participation of Gurchenko, dozens of films can be listed. And everywhere her roles, even if they are not the main ones, are bright and memorable. But her acting road was full of holes and bumps. While studying in a comprehensive school, the girl also received a musical education. Then she graduated from VGIK. Even while studying at the university, she showed herself in different guises - an actress, singer, musician. For the first time on the movie screens, she appeared in the film "The Road of Truth", then in the tape "The Heart Beats Again". Both paintings were released in 1956. But, of course, the actress's real triumph came after filming Carnival Night. The audience saw it on the very eve of the new 1957. The audience immediately fell in love with the image of Lenochka Krylova - cheerful, self-confident, acutely aware of injustice and ready to do anything to achieve the truth. “I didn’t come here to keep silent!” - so said her heroine in the first film "The Road of Truth". And these words became Lyudmila Markovna's motto for life.

And I had to fight a lot. The success of Carnival Night still lives on. But in those years, the procession on the movie screens for the actress did not become triumphant. The film "Girl with a Guitar" was shot specially for the image of Lyudmila Gurchenko, but it did not bring the expected popularity. And then the actress completely disappeared from the mass field of view for almost fifteen years. No, she did not stop filming, just films that were released during this period were recorded at republican and regional film studios. Initially, they could not become popular on an all-Union scale.

For Lyudmila Markovna, such lack of demand was unbearable. She herself said that for a man in his prime, this is cruel. It was rumored that the authorities considered her moral behavior unacceptable for a Soviet person. The fact is that the actress often took part in small concerts, which is called "hack-work". But the most important event happened precisely during the shooting of the film "Girl with a Guitar". At the end of July 1957, the VI International Festival of Youth and Students was to open in Moscow, which was attended by guests from 131 countries of the world. On the eve of this event, Lyudmila Gurchenko was summoned by the Minister of Culture of the USSR and offered to cooperate - to work for the KGB. The principled artist refused such an offer, after which her persecution began: both by officials and by the media.

Filmed to the end

The current situation could not but affect the psychological and physical condition of the actress. Nevertheless, even during these fifteen years, Lyudmila Markovna starred in nine films. And in the seventies, her finest hour began at all. "Station for Two", "Love and Doves", "Straw Hat", "Heavenly Swallows" - these films are masterpieces of Soviet cinema. Lyudmila Markovna starred for the rest of her life. In 2010, the feature film "Motley Twilight" was released, in which Gurchenko played the main role.
