When making knitted products, the needlewoman may need to make a wedge - inside the work or as a separate part. For example, mittens with “raglan” toes or flared skirts, consisting of several cut details, cannot do without this element. You can knit a wedge by decreasing or adding loops along both edges of the triangular shape. The shape of this knitted fabric element will depend on the number of loops at the base and the height of the rows.
It is necessary
- - A set of five stocking needles;
- - two straight knitting needles;
- - pattern of wedges;
- - yarn;
- - iron with steam mode.
Instructions
Step 1
Try making a wedge for the toe of the mitten in circular rows of hosiery. Work should begin at the end of the elastic and three additional circular rows. In this case, the triangle of the wedge for the left mitten must be knitted with the fourth stocking knitting needle, and the part for the right product with the third.
Step 2
Tie the front row with the fourth (or, respectively, the third) knitting needle, while the last loop does not need to be knitted. First, make one yarn over, and only then knit the left loop as a knit one. This is followed by a repeated yarn. As a result, two loops should be added in the first row in your work.
Step 3
Use your finger to hold the last loop on, as it may slip off the working needle at the beginning of the next row. Run three rows in a circle without increments, knitting all yarns on the back threads.
Step 4
On the fifth row of wedge knitting, perform the thrown stitches before and after the last three stitches. So two more pairs of additional loops will appear in the work.
Step 5
Continue to do the raglan piece, making regular increments every three circular rows. Each time you should have more and more (and always odd!) Number of loops untied. For example, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc. The wedge is complete when you knit the piece to the base of your thumb.
Step 6
Try to knit a wedge inside the fabric by gradually (a couple of loops in each row) reducing the number of loops. First, tie the base of the triangle of the required width.
Step 7
To decrease (narrow the wedge), remove one loop untied; perform the next one with the front one - it must be pulled through the removed loop. Next, the row is performed according to the main pattern, but at the same time the last and the penultimate loop are knitted together.
Step 8
Continue decreasing in the same way until there is only one loop left between the initial loops of the wedge.
