Is Clivia pretty? arrived to us from South Africa. She has the peculiarity of transforming the space around her. It is an evergreen plant without a stem, with a fan of oblong leaves and many beautiful flowers.
Instructions
Step 1
Clivia is a cross between a bulbous and a rooted plant. Its roots are underground, and the leaves, firmly attached to the roots, go deep underground. She does not require special care, except that her roots are very fragile - you should not disturb the beauty with frequent transplants. This should be done only when its roots are crawling out of the pot. The soil should consist of a mixture of turf and leafy soil, with the addition of sand. Good drainage is also needed. The pot doesn't have to be big. Clivia grows better in close quarters. During transplantation, the clivia can be propagated by separating the side part with 4-7 leaves. Such a plant will bloom in the second year of life.
Step 2
Water this plant as the soil dries up, preventing it from drying out. Clivia roots absorb water, so keep a close eye on moisture. In winter, its watering depends on the air temperature and the rate of drying of the soil. When the plant reaches a height of 15 cm, flower stalks appear. Then the watering is increased. At this time, it is better not to move the flower pot, this puts it in a state of stress. Since September, watering is reduced, then brought to a minimum.
Step 3
In summer, clivia can withstand temperatures up to 25 degrees. Prefers the east and southeast window, withstands light partial shade. In autumn and winter, the temperature should not drop below 10 degrees, so that later the plant will bloom well. If you do not divide the clivia bush, you will get a large bush, strewn with gorgeous flowers.
Step 4
Excess water can cause gray mold. If the roots were damaged during planting, then the places of "wounds" should be sprinkled with crushed coal, this will prevent the death of the plant. The plant is also affected by aphids. Special preparations will help here. If the plant refuses to bloom, then the dormant period was not long enough. The older the plant, the longer it needs rest. White spots on the leaves indicate sunburn - in this case, the plant needs to be rearranged in a darker place. The lack of flowering indicates a lack of nutrition.
