A dragonfly is one of the simplest bead crafts, so often learning to weave begins with this particular product. However, despite all its simplicity, a beaded dragonfly is very effective, and it can be used to decorate a hair, if attached to a hairpin, or to decorate an outfit, if you make a brooch out of it.
It is necessary
- For dragonfly hairpins:
- - round beads with a diameter of 4 mm in two colors - 5 pcs.;
- - shortened bugles;
- - 1 oval bead;
- - 2 beads with a diameter of 2 mm, black;
- - wire;
- - wire cutters.
- For the dragonfly keychain:
- - bicone beads of different shades;
- - 4 faceted elongated drop-shaped beads;
- - 2 faceted beads with a diameter of 4 mm;
- - fishing line;
- - scissors.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut a piece of wire 30 cm long. Choose beads in two contrasting colors to make the body of the dragonfly shimmer, use, for example, details in purple and green shades.
Step 2
Start braiding with the body of the dragonfly. Place 1 bead on the wire, which will serve as a stop for the beads. Place it in the middle of the wire. Connect the edges by aligning the ends. Cast on both ends of the wire beads with a diameter of 4 mm, alternating shades.
Step 3
Now start weaving the wings. Spread the ends of the wire apart. For each string, string about 35 tubes of shortened bugle beads (their number will depend on the desired size of the wings). Bend the beaded wire into a loop and make 2 turns at the base. Do the same on the other side.
Step 4
Put the ends of the wire back together and string one larger bead over them. Spread the wire again and string 45 beads for the wings on each edge. Bend the wire to form a loop and make a couple of turns at the base of the winglet to secure it. Make the second wing in the same way.
Step 5
Move on to weaving the muzzle. To do this, use an oval-shaped bead, which is strung on the ends of the wire folded together. Then make the eyes. To do this, divide the ends of the wire and type a black bead on each.
Step 6
Connect the ends of the wire and make a couple of turns around the beads. Now make the antennae of the dragonfly. Cut off excess wire and bend the ends to form a mustache. This dragonfly can be attached to the base for a hairpin or a brooch clasp can be glued to it.
Step 7
To make a small dragonfly that is perfect for making a keychain, cut off a piece of fishing line. String 4 bicone beads on it, place them in the middle of the segment and pull both ends of the line through the last bead.
Step 8
Make dragonfly wings. To do this, type 2 elongated beads with edges on each end. Then string 1 bead on one side and pull the other end of the fishing line through it. Pull the thread. Cast on one more bicone on each side and join the ends. String the rest of the beads on a double-folded fishing line. The number of beads depends on the desired length of the dragonfly's body.
Step 9
Secure and hide the fishing line. To do this, pull the ends through the last bead of the row, and then pass through 2 more beads and cut off the excess. Attach the key ring or loop.
