A small nimble fish made of plastic or wood, which will immediately attract the attention of a pike, zander, perch or other predator and make it be hooked. There are thousands of types and names of wobblers in fishing shops, and even an experienced angler cannot immediately choose the right one and use it correctly.
Types of wobblers
All wobblers can be divided into types depending on body shape, buoyancy, colors and diving depth. There are narrow fish “Original”, “Hasky”, “Magnum”, some look like fry “Minnow” or fat “Fat”, roach or perch “Shad”. When choosing a model, you need to imagine the preferences of a predatory fish. For example, pike can be caught with voluminous wobblers with a large range of motion, and pike perch cannot resist thin and nimble fish.
The colors can be bright or natural. In the warmed up clear water in summer, it is better to choose more natural wobblers of gray-green, brownish shades. And in spring or autumn, especially in muddy water, predators bite better on bright acidic shades, completely unnatural, but noticeable.
Depending on the weight and design, wobblers can be sinking, floating and neutral. The latter can even hang in front of the nose of a passive predator, provoking it to a decisive throw. For fishing in shallow or overgrown bodies of water, it is better to choose surface models, with a depth of immersion of 0-0.5 meters, on rivers or fast currents, shallow-water wobblers (0.5-3 m) are suitable, on deep lakes or ponds - deep-water ones, with a diving depth up to 5-6 meters.
Wobbler mount
The most reliable is considered to be a rigid steel leash, which is tied to the main line. In this case, the pike will not be able to bite off the bait and the likelihood of losing it will be minimal. Such a leash is made of wire, its length is up to 8 cm, one of the end loops plays the role of a carabiner, twisting and developing during dribbling. The disadvantage of this method of fastening: it changes the game of the wobbler and, with its brilliance, can frighten the fish.
The second option is a fluorocarbon leader with stronger characteristics than the main line. It is attached to the wobbler with a not-a-knot fastener, the wire carabiner does not interfere with the game.
Features of postings
Depending on the design, the wobbler plays differently. Large vane models give straight and intense play with consistent guidance. If the blade is short, the game will most likely not work with continuous pulling, but when jerking the fish will perform aerobatics.
For a beginner angler, it is better to use a uniform drive using a wobbler with a large blade. In this case, even without special skills, an active game will be provided, attractive to the predator. The slower the fisherman reels, the deeper the bait will be.
If the even play doesn't work, you should try the jerk game. You need to throw the wobbler, wait for it to go to the desired depth (if it is not a floating model). Then simultaneously rotate the reel handle and twitch the bait. At the same time, the wobbler looks like a panicking exhausted fish and attracts attention.
