If you decide to make handmade soap not from scratch, but based on store soap and supplementing it with your own components, your work will begin with the fact that you have to melt the base. And the further result largely depends on how well you do it.

It is necessary

  • - soap
  • - grater (food processor)
  • - Bowl
  • - milk
  • - two pots (microwave oven, double boiler).

Instructions

Step 1

Take a grater, a deep bowl and start grinding the soap. It is most convenient to take a beet grater; it is inconvenient to rub the soap on a finer one. If you have a food processor, make your work easier - use it to grind the soap. It is best if you rub on fresh soap, as it grinds very easily. But with the old pieces you have to tinker with.

Step 2

After you've crushed all the soap you intend to melt, pour the milk over the soap shavings and let sit for at least a couple of hours. Ideally, it will be if you rub the soap in the evening and let it stand in milk all night, and start melting in the morning. The milk, absorbed, will make the soap smoother, and will also help remove foam that will certainly form when the ingredients are mixed further.

Step 3

Now you can start melting the soap directly. This can be done in three ways: in a water bath, in a double boiler and in a microwave oven.

Step 4

To melt the soap in a water bath, pour the shavings into a small saucepan. Then take a larger pot, fill it with water, put a small pot in it and place the structure on the stove. Depending on the recipe, add water, glycerin, and olive oil to the soap. Stir the soap constantly until it dissolves completely. Wait until the mass becomes homogeneous, without lumps.

Step 5

Take a deep microwave dish, add soap shavings and microwave for four minutes. When the time has passed, remove the bowl, stir the mixture and send back to the microwave for four minutes. Repeat the procedure until the soap is completely dissolved.

Step 6

Put the grated soap in a heat-resistant baking bag, put the bag itself in a double boiler and keep there until the soap has completely melted. You don't even need to open the bag to pour the melted soap into the molds. Just cut off the tip from it and squeeze out the soapy mass like a cream.
