Instructions

Step 1

To get started, download the required models, for example, from gamebanana.com. Go to this site and click the Games button at the top of the page. A list of games will appear, select Counter Strike: 1.6 among them, at the time of this writing this line is somewhere in the middle of the second page. In the new window, click New Skins, and in the next window, select the skin you like and click on it with the left mouse button. A page will open with more detailed information about the selected skin. If that's what you need, click on the green Download button, and then save the files to the desired location. Otherwise, search again.

Step 2

As a rule, the creators of alternative game models archive their work, so use the Winrar program to unpack the files. To do this, right-click on the archive and click "Extract files" in the menu that appears. In the new window, specify the path and click OK.

Step 3

Open the folder with the unpacked files. Among others, they should contain files with the *.mdl extension - this is what you need. For example, the hostage's skin will be named hostage.mdl, and the file responsible for the Kalashnikov assault rifle model will be v_ak47.mdl. Now, using Windows Explorer, open the … / cstrike / models directory, which is located in the Counter Strike 1.6 folder. This section contains character and weapon models.

Step 4

Before copying the unpacked files with the *.mdl extension to the … / cstrike / models folder, copy the existing files into a separate directory. This is necessary in order to return the game models to their previous appearance at any time. If you do not do this, during the copying process, the system will probably ask you whether to replace the existing files. Do as you see fit. Now open the game and enjoy the new models.
