Knowing how to tune your own instrument is the most important thing for a guitarist and should be done every time before playing. There are a lot of ways to customize, so it's easy enough to choose something "for yourself".
Instructions
Step 1
Tune at the "5th fret". This method is considered the easiest and most intuitive for beginners. The main principle is that if the string is held down at the 5th fret, it will sound the same as its lower neighbor in the "open" position. That is, the sixth at the fifth fret is an open fifth. When the strings “sound the same”, you will hear the two sounds merge into one - in which case, you can consider this pair as tuned. Important: the principle of the “fifth fret” does not work for the third string - in this case, this role is played by the fourth metal nut. So: 2 (5) = 1, 3 (4) = 2, 4 (5) = 3, 5 (5) = 4, 6 (5) = 5. The first string should be tuned either by a tuning fork, or considered "already tuned" - in general, this is allowed.
Step 2
Use octaves. This is suitable for more experienced musicians who consistently use the "fifth fret" and imagine how two sounds should "merge" into one. You know the notes: do, re, mi, and beyond. But seven notes will not be enough to reflect the entire mass of sounds, therefore, in order to give a name to all sounds, they are first divided into several octaves, and each octave is already into notes. For example, that "la" can be either the first octave or a small one: these two sounds will not sound the same, but will "merge" with each other. Here's how you can check it on a guitar: 4 (2) = 1 (0), 5 (0) = 3 (2), 6 (0) = 4 (2). The same verification method can be attributed to the fact that 3 (9) is absolutely equal in sound to 1 (0). You will hardly be able to do the basic tuning in octaves, but after a rough tuning it will allow you to check whether the guitar "builds" or not.
Step 3
Tune with the tuner. Each string has a certain standard vibration frequency corresponding to the note: this frequency is determined by the small computer. There are many devices of different devices and different prices, which will quite accurately insist on the guitar "for you". Typically, there are two types of tuners: either you will need to put it in front of the guitar, or you will need to attach it to the fretboard. To tune the guitar with their help, you will need to select the number of the string and pull it (make a sound), after which an arrow will appear on the screen - "raise" or "lower" the tone. However, such a simple method of tuning interferes with the development of the guitarist's hearing, because tuning is the most valuable practice in this matter.
