It is necessary

  • - Old newspapers
  • - Glass vase with a flat, smooth surface
  • - Starch
  • - Brush
  • - Knife, scissors
  • - Paints or colored paper

Instructions

Step 1

You will need warm water and old newspapers. Pour water into a bowl. Take the selected vase. Tear off pieces from the newspaper, dip in water and glue to the surface of the vase. Make sure that the surface of the vase is completely covered with pieces of newspaper. Do not sculpt the newspaper in large pieces, especially if the vase is of a complex shape: the paper should not wrinkle.

Step 2

Cook the paste. To do this, take a small saucepan, pour water into it and place it on the stove. In a separate bowl, dissolve the starch in a small amount of water (at the rate of 1 tablespoon per liter of water. When the water in the saucepan boils, pour in the solution, stir thoroughly and let cool. To cool the paste faster, put the saucepan in a bowl of cold water.

Step 3

When the layer of paper glued with water dries up a little (not enough to start to fall off, but enough so that the water does not run down the walls of the vase), take a brush and stick a second layer of pieces of newspaper, smearing each with paste.

In total, you will need to make 10-15 layers, depending on the size of the vase. The last layer should be made of even, neat pieces of white paper. This will be the face layer.

Tilt the future vase so that it dries properly.

Step 4

When the workpiece dries properly, you need to carefully cut it along the perimeter and remove it. Since the first layer of paper was attached to water, the workpiece can easily be separated from the glass. If in some areas the paper sticks to the glass, wet the brush and drip a little water onto the dry area.

Step 5

Fold the parts of the vase, smearing the seam with paste. Stick another 1 layer of paper. Let dry again.

Now you can color the vase as you like or cut the colored paper into pieces and glue the gray layer like a mosaic.
