Required materials and tools

In addition to old disks, you will need:

- a circle of fiberboard with a height of 1.5 cm and a diameter of 20 cm;

- 12 electrical connectors, the size of which is determined by the diameter of the steel wire;

- 5 m of steel wire with a diameter of 2 mm;

- switch;

- lamp holder;

- fork;

- energy-saving fluorescent lamp E27;

- 2 sticks of transparent silicone;

- rubber feet with a diameter of 2 cm;

- drill;

- pliers.

Frame preparation

Begin assembly work by shaping the bottom of the lamp. To do this, divide the fiberboard circle into 12 sectors using a ruler and a compass. Connect the dividing points with lines to determine the center, this is necessary to insert the cartridge, steel wire and mark the place where the rubber feet are attached. Use a drill to drill the holes.

Using pliers, cut 6 pieces of steel wire 1 meter long. Bend each piece in an arc, it is easier to cope with the task using pliers or a vice. Bolt the three rubber feet and the chuck in the center hole.

Assembling disks

Secure the 6 arcuate wire pieces by inserting them into the holes. Wrap the arcs with your hands or pliers to get the shape you want. As a result, a spherical lattice should be formed. Use a wire cutter to remove the excess edges of the wire.

Start the assembly by filling in the 6 rods located closer to the center. Lay the discs alternately so that each disc rests on two adjacent discs. Fill the space between the discs and the stem with silicone. Repeat the installation until the discs begin to overlap again. From now on, string 6 discs in succession. Collect 12-rod discs as long as size allows, then switch back to 6 rods and string 3 discs each.

Before 6 stacks of discs converge to the center, install the E27 lamp in the socket. In the last 8-10 coats, do not use silicone to gain access to the lamp should it need to be replaced.

Chandelier top

When the stacks of discs have reached 26 cm, twist the ends of the wire towards the center. Divide the 2 discs stacked together into 12 sectors, mark 2 points on each radius, drill holes for the electrical connector. Disassemble the electrical connector so that it is possible to remove the metal connectors. To assemble the tops, put a connector on each wire, fasten the upper disc to the bolts with a screwdriver.
