Baguettes, which are produced for painting, are glued before wallpapering and painting the ceiling and walls. Painted - on the contrary, they are glued over glue ceilings and wallpaper.

Step 1
A paintable baguette will help hide the unevenness of the joints of the ceiling and walls, but if the walls are crooked, then such a baguette will only highlight the flaw. Glue the baguette to be painted before wallpapering or painting the walls. Begin gluing from the most visible inner corner of the room.
Step 2
You can correctly cut the baguette in the outer and inner corners using a miter box. You can make a U-shaped miter box (in the shape of the letter "P") yourself. To do this, screw sections of chipboard or plywood of the same length to the long ends of a flat edged board strictly at an angle of 90 °.
Step 3
Measure the 90 ° and 45 ° angles using the protractor. Draw them in the middle of the product, turning in both directions along the surface of the board with the transition to the sides. Using a hacksaw with a flat high blade, file the side walls strictly vertically along the marked lines to the very base.
Step 4
To determine the cutting direction of the outer and inner corners, turn the miter box upside down and insert a baguette into it in the corner near the ceiling. Place the miter box together with the baguette inserted into it on the table and cut. However, if this is the first time you are forming the corners of the baguette and do not want to be mistaken in determining the direction of the cut, get a large L-shaped miter box.
Step 5
Check the mating of the baguettes after cutting by inserting them into the corner. Small gaps of up to one and a half millimeters are acceptable. At the end of the work, they can be putty. If necessary, trim the baguettes with a knife to improve joining. For gluing the baguette, you can use a filler, for example Fügenfüller, transparent polyurethane glue or liquid nails (not for a white baguette). Do not use silicone sealants. they cannot be painted.
Step 6
When gluing the baguette, do not bend it, trying to eliminate the gap between the ceiling and the wall. If such irregularities are found, it is better to leave cracks in the grooves that will not be conspicuous after covering and painting. After the adhesive has set, fill in the gaps and joints between the baguettes.
Step 7
First apply one coat of putty, which will shrink at joints and deep crevices. Then, with a second coat, cover the areas of noticeable shrinkage. After finishing every meter, smooth the filler with a damp flute brush. At the end of the filling, sand the joints with sandpaper. Before painting, be sure to wipe the baguette from dust.
