A hot stand is an indispensable accessory in the kitchen. It is not necessary to spend money on the purchase of such kitchen utensils, because you can make it yourself, for example, from old unnecessary discs, pieces of felt, etc.
How to make felt hot stand
You will need:
- pieces of felt;
- scissors;
- a needle with threads in the color of felt;
- pins.
First of all, cut 11 parts out of felt: two circles with a diameter of 15 centimeters from colored felt, one circle with a diameter of 13 centimeters from white felt and eight small triangular sectors with sides of about five centimeters.
In the three triangular sectors, cut small triangular holes exactly in the middle of the shapes.
Next, put one circle of large diameter in front of you, on it - a circle of smaller diameter (white), and on the white - triangular sectors, placing them in a circle. Attach all sectors to the circles with pins and carefully sew with a needle and thread with a simple basting stitch along the edge.
After this procedure, put the remaining felt circle in front of you, not it - the resulting blank face up. Fasten the parts together.
Sew the circles around the edge with a felt-colored needle and thread (you can use white thread).
Trim off excess edges of the stand (if required).
A hot stand in the form of a lime wedge is ready. If you wish, you can make other coasters using the same technique, for example, in the form of slices of grapefruit, lemon, orange, etc., you just have to use felt of suitable colors.
How to make a hot stand out of fabric and old discs
You will need:
- two disks;
- cotton fabric;
- synthetic winterizer;
- scissors;
- a needle and thread;
- oblique inlay about 30 centimeters long;
- cord.
Put a synthetic winterizer and a cloth in front of you, put disks on them and circle them with a pencil. Add two centimeters on each side of the circles and cut out the blanks. Thus, make four circles (two from padding polyester and two from fabric).
Put a circle made of fabric face down in front of you, not it - a circle made of padding polyester, then the disc itself. Place a basting stitch around the edges of the cut out circles and pull together so that the disc is inside. Make the second part of the stand in the same way.
Take a bias tape (you can use any tape) and sew it over the cord.
Fold the two bases of the stand together and carefully sew the cord to them, trying to sew it so that all the parts are well fastened together.
The stand is ready.
