Homemade embroidered rug will make the nursery cozy and add elegance to the bedroom or living room. The rug can be embroidered with a cross, satin stitch or tapestry stitch. But you can buy a special needle, and then your terry creation will be very similar in technique to the factory one. You can embroider whatever you like on this rug.
It is necessary
- - needle for embroidery of carpets;
- - double-thread fabric for the base;
- - wooden slats or finished frame;
- - wallpaper nails;
- - woolen or semi-woolen threads;
- - bobbin threads (preferably cotton);
- - a needle;
- - crochet hook;
- - ball pen;
- - PVA glue;
- - foam sponge;
- - water.
Instructions
Step 1
Select a drawing. Try to keep the details large enough. If you are embroidering a carpet for the first time, it is best to avoid small fragments and subtle color transitions.
Step 2
Make a frame to fit your future rug. Small items can also be embroidered on the hoop, but this is not very convenient. Cut a rectangle or square out of the fabric. It should be 5-10 centimeters larger than the future rug in each direction. The width of the allowances depends on the thickness of the strip. Pull the fabric over the frame and secure with wallpaper studs. Apply the pattern to the seamy side. This is best done with a ballpoint pen. Keep in mind that you will have the wrong side of the work surface, that is, the drawing needs to be translated in a mirror image.
Step 3
Thread a black or dark brown woolen thread through a carpet needle. This is most conveniently done with a regular bobbin thread threaded into a needle with a wide eye. Embroider the pattern along the outline. At the end, carefully cut the thread so that not even a small tip remains. Insert the thread of the base color and also sew the image along the contour. The colored seam should go next to the black, but closer to the center of the part, and nowhere from the front side intersect the stitches of the previous row. Fill in the entire part with exactly the same lines, moving from the edges to the center with each seam. This way, embroider all the other parts, and then fill in the empty spaces.
Step 4
Fasten the loops and remove the rug from the frame. Turn your piece right side down. Dilute the glue with water.. Gently dip a sponge in it and lubricate the wrong side without leaving any empty spaces. This must be done very carefully so that the glue does not leak onto the front side. Leave your creation in this position for a few hours to allow the glue to dry properly.
Step 5
Process the edges. This can be done in different ways. Trim it with braid, stripes of fabric in tone or contrasting, crochet. In the latter case, it is preferable to take the same threads and tie a row of double crochets along the contour, inserting the hook into the gaps between the fibers of the fabric.
