Step 1
Sand the table top and table legs with fine-grained emery paper so that the paint evenly covers the surface. Decide what color for the table will be taken as a basis. If you need to achieve a different shade, mix the colors on the palette. You can achieve uniformity of color, or you can deliberately not bring the paint composition to such a state. Then on the table after painting there will be noticeable overflows and transitions of shades from one to another. This design will look nice and extraordinary.
Step 2
Sponge paint in broad strokes. You can cover the surface by lightly touching the sponge to read its texture. After painting the countertop, treat the legs.
Step 3
When the paint is dry, draw your chosen drawing with a pencil. If the table is in the children's room, you can portray funny characters, exotic animals or toys. When decorating a table for another room, try to keep the style in line with the overall color of the interior. For example, a pattern can be combined with the one that is present on the wallpaper or on the upholstery of upholstered furniture in the room.
Step 4
Use the acrylic paints of the desired colors to paint the drawing with a brush. If a stencil is used, it will be convenient to work with spray paints or a sponge. Apply the paint with a sponge, blotting gently. Do not thin the paint too thin. Otherwise, it will not flow under the edges of the stencil, and the pattern will turn out to be blurry or not at all possible.
Step 5
Use a thin brush to paint in every detail. If you want to add volume to the figures shown, paint their edges with a darker color and paint shadows. Using lighter tones, add highlights. After the paint is dry, you can start coating the surface with an acrylic spray varnish.
