How to apply a drawing to a mirror

It is necessary

  • - mirror;
  • - contour;
  • - stained glass paints or paints on glass;
  • - brushes;
  • - glass marker;
  • - masking tape.

Instructions

Step 1

Wash the mirror surface and clean it from stains. Decide what pattern you will apply to the mirror and where you will place it. The location of the pattern depends on the shape of the mirror and your personal taste. If you want to continue using it for its intended purpose, do not cover the entire surface with a pattern. In this case, it is better to make an ornament along the border. If the mirror is rectangular, only the corners can be decorated.

Step 2

Sketch the pattern onto the mirror. This can be done with a glass marker. If you want to translate the pattern, you can use special copy paper from an art supply store. It is important that all the elements of your drawing are closed - you will pour stained glass paints into their outline. It is better to cover those places of the mirror where your hand will lie during work, so as not to wash the resulting prints later.

Step 3

You need to start drawing on the mirror from the outline. It's easy to draw with a contour - you need to squeeze it straight out of the tube. For convenience, the contours are sold in different colors and with nozzles of different thickness. Be sure to make sure again that all the lines of the drawing are closed.

Step 4

After the outline has dried, start filling the drawing with stained glass paints. You can buy them at a specialist store. Some types of stained glass paints need to be applied with a brush, others pour out of the bottle. The disadvantage of the latter is the formation of bubbles, which are difficult to get rid of. Apply color to one of the enclosed elements. Next, it is better to fill the path through one free space. After the elements painted first are dry, fill in the rest. Make sure that the adjacent elements of the pattern are not the same color.

Step 5

You need to dry the resulting product in a clean room, otherwise a lot of dust will settle on the paint, which will damage the appearance of the mirror. After drying, you need to evaluate the appearance of your product and correct minor errors. If the mirror has a frame, it can be updated in a harmonious color scheme with the pattern.
