Step 1
Download a server for the game Counter-Strike. Unpack the downloaded material to the folder with the game files that you specified during installation. After downloading materials for a multiplayer game, be sure to check the unpacked contents of the archives for viruses, as they often contain malicious elements. Also, if necessary, save the working configuration of the game more often in order to avoid reinstalling it in the future.

Start the server and make yourself an administrator. In the Valve folder, find and run the file called hlds.exe, and you should see a small window with settings. Opposite the Game parameter, select Counter-Strike, in the server name, respectively, write the name of your game server.

In the Map section, select a map. In the Network, write down the Lan or Internet values, depending on whether the game will be played via the Internet or a local network. For a local network, write down the Lan parameter, and for the Internet, respectively, Internet.

Select the number of players who can take part in the network game on your server / opposite the Max. Players parameter, in the UDP Port specify the port of your server and in the RCON Password the password to enter. Click on the Start button.
