The team shooter Counter-Strike has long ceased to be just a game - it's more of a phenomenon; a project that is played even 10 years after its release. Old age, however, is brightened by fans who regularly create new additions and modifications designed to revive their favorite game.
Instructions
Step 1
Install new weapon models. Download the archive with the add-on and unpack it: inside there should be files in the format.mdl,.wav and.spr. The first is a weapon model, the second is the sound of a shot, and the third is a picture in the "store". Open the root directory of the game, go to the cstrike folder: inside there will be models, sound and sprites folders - move the add-on files into them (mdl in models, wav in sound, spr in sprites). Please note that installing a modification does not add a new weapon, but only replaces the old one (leaving its characteristics unchanged). Therefore, for example, when installing two M-16 models, only the last one will be reflected in the game.
Step 2
Replace character models. Installing such add-ons is similar to the actions in the previous paragraph: the downloaded archive will contain a.mdl file, which must be transferred to the cstrike -> models -> player -> # folder, where the last folder is called the file. If you download a set of models, they will probably be immediately saved as a models folder, which you need to copy to cstrike, replacing the files if they match.
Step 3
Expand the game with new locations. In Counter-Strike, you can add an unlimited number of additional maps for the game. Each of them will be decomposed into three folders: maps (the level itself), models (unique models and textures at the level) and sound (sounds and music at the level). You need to copy the folders in the same way as before - at / cstrike.
Step 4
Try to install a major modification that directly changes the gameplay. There are a number of restrictions for such mods - so on one copy of the game you can install only one modification (to have several different options at hand, install several copies of the game). In addition, you must have a server installed and configured to play on the Internet. Directly installing the mod is done by copying the files to the game directory.
