A picture with a Christmas tree covered with snow is useful for creating a greeting New Year or Christmas card. You can draw such a tree using the standard tools of the Photoshop editor.

It is necessary

  • - Photoshop program;
  • - a photo with a Christmas tree.

Instructions

Step 1

Using the Ctrl + N combination, create a canvas in Photoshop slightly larger than the size of the future tree. Select white as the background color.

Step 2

The tree will need three shades of green. To select the desired colors, open your own or found on the Internet snapshot with a Christmas tree in the editor using the Ctrl + O keys. With the Eyedropper tool turned on, click on the light green area of the image. Save the selected hue in the swatch palette by clicking on the Create new swatch button. Save a couple more darker swatches in the same way.

Step 3

Switching to the window with an empty canvas, create a layer in it with the Shift + Ctrl + N keys, on which there will be small spruce branches. With the Brush tool turned on, open the Brushes palette and select the smallest of the Chalk brushes in the Brush Tip Shape tab.

Step 4

With the main color in the middle of the saved swatches as the main color, draw short, straight branches scattered around the perimeter of the triangular silhouette of the tree. Place a number of shorter branches in the central part of the tree.

Step 5

Add another layer and with the same brush, but with a lighter shade, draw the needles on the branches with short strokes.

Step 6

A new layer is required for the trunk and large branches. Click on the twenty-three pixel Chalk swatch and go to the Scattering tab of the Brushes palette. Adjust the Scatter parameter so that the brush mark is slightly shaggy around the edges. Check the Both Axes option in the same tab.

Step 7

Draw the trunk and several large branches of the tree in the darkest shade of green. Move the created layer under the layers with light colors.

Step 8

Paste a new layer on top of the trunk and thick branches. Using the Chalk brush, seventeen pixels in diameter, paint thinner branches extending from the larger branches. Use the same shade for them as you used for the smallest branches, and leave the diffusion settings the same as for the trunk.

Step 9

Make the tree more luxurious. To do this, select all the green layers in the document and group them with Ctrl + G. Duplicate the group with the Duplicate Group option on the Layer menu and flip it horizontally with the Filp Horizontal option in the Transform group in the Edit menu.

Step 10

If the tree has two trunks after this operation, move the top group with the Move Tool. Overlay the copied group on the original in the Multiply mode ("Multiplication"). To prevent the tree from being too symmetrical, erase some of the layers in the upper group with the Eraser tool.

Step 11

For snow, you need another layer. Turn on the Lasso tool and enter a Feather value between five and ten pixels. With the adjusted tool, trace the parts of the tree on which the snow will lie, and fill the selection with white. This can be done using the Fill option on the Edit menu. If the snow is too fluffy, undo the last actions in the History palette ("History") and reduce the amount of feathering in the lasso settings.

Step 12

Save the tree picture using the Save option on the File menu.
