Plot
The town of Mystic Falls, Virginia is home to many supernatural beings. The main character of the tape is a 17-year-old girl named Elena Gilbert. Elena is in love with a certain Stefan Salvatore. The problem is that Stefan is a vampire, while he was 162 years old.
One day, Stefan's older brother, Damon Salvatore, arrives in the city. Damon, a dark and vicious person, has come to the city to get even with his brother for what happened in their common past, he is wreaking havoc in the town.
Both brothers fall in love with Elena at the same time, and now she faces a choice. It turns out that the girl is like two peas in a pod similar to a woman named Catherine Pierce, whom they both once loved.
Both brothers, under the influence of Elena and their feelings for her, change. Damon becomes much more caring and kind, but Stefan, formerly gentle and kind, returns to the habits of the old days, when he was called the Ripper. In the end, Catherine herself comes to town …
Interestingly, Elena and Katherine are played by the same actress - Nina Dobrev. She also plays another role in the series - 2000-year-old Amara.
In the series, secondary storylines unfold, associated mainly with the families of Stefan and Elena. The Salvatore and Gilberts are among the families who once founded Mystic Falls. The Founding Council protects the city from vampires, werewolves, witches and ghosts. As the story unfolds, viewers learn more about the city's mysterious past, to which Catherine Pierce has some mysterious relationship.
