The sacrament of a wedding is a special event in the life of a couple, therefore the choice of a wedding dress should be approached very carefully. Of course, you can also get married in a traditional wedding dress, but there are several restrictions that should be taken into account.

It is necessary

  • - 2-6 m of fabric;
  • - pattern;
  • - threads to match the fabric;
  • - safety pins;
  • - scissors;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - iron.

Instructions

Step 1

A wedding dress can be either white or any other color, but it must necessarily be light shades: pink, blue, light green, beige, golden. Also, you should not wear a short dress, it should not slightly open your knees. The shoulders, arms and head of the bride should be covered.

Step 2

Lightweight dress fabrics are suitable for sewing a wedding dress: silk, chiffon, satin, crepe de chine, guipure and so on. If the fabric is transparent, then sew a cover under it. These fabrics are quite difficult to sew, so make trial stitches on an unnecessary piece before sewing. This way you can adjust the stitch length and thread tension.

Step 3

You can calculate the required amount of fabric as follows. Women under size 52 need one length for the bodice and sleeves. If you sew a dress with a straight or slightly flared skirt, then one length will also be enough for the skirt, plus you should add 10-15 cm for allowances. If the skirt is fluffy, then you will need 2 to 3 skirt lengths. So, to sew a fitted dress with a three-quarter sleeve, you will need about 2 m of fabric. Larger women will need twice as much fabric to sew a dress.

Step 4

Reshoot the dress pattern from a fashion magazine. The model of the dress does not have to be exactly the wedding one. You can sew any one you like from a suitable fabric.

Step 5

Lay out the details of the pattern on the seamy side of the fabric and pin with safety pins. This will prevent the pattern from slipping, therefore, the result will be better.

Step 6

Fold the front and back parts right sides together. Stitch side and shoulder seams, overlog or zigzag seams. Iron all seams.

Step 7

Fit the sleeve along the side. To do this, lay a 4 mm stitch along it and tighten it slightly. Iron with a steam iron or a damp iron.

Step 8

Sew the side of the sleeve and sew into the armhole of the bodice. Press the sleeve bottom to the wrong side and sew with a blind stitch.

Step 9

Next, process the neckline of the dress. Sew the edge of the piping with a narrow zigzag stitch. Attach the hem to the front of the bodice, pin and sew. Fold back the piping to the wrong side. Sweep clean and iron the neckline. Remove the basting. The neck can be decorated with braid, beads or embroidery.

Step 10

If the dress is cut along the waist, then start sewing the skirt. Sew the side cuts. Make gathers or folds along the waistline. Sew the skirt to the bodice.

Step 11

Now put on the dress and adjust the length. It is impossible to do this on your own, so ask someone close to you to help. Measure the length of the dress from the floor and pin it off with pins or sweep it on a living thread.

Step 12

Fold the bottom of the dress twice and sew on a sewing machine. Iron the finished dress and decorate with embroidery, applique or braid.
