So that over time the coins do not tarnish, it is necessary to use special products that allow the coins to remain in their original form longer. Holders, storage capsules, albums, cases - there are many packages that will help you preserve your coins.
Holder for storing coins
The easiest option for storing coins is made of paper, cardboard, plastic. In appearance, they resemble an envelope, they are self-adhesive or with special windows for fastening with a stapler. Paper holders store coins well, only they are impractical in operation: the coin must be removed for each viewing, as a result, the paper wears out quickly.
Plastic holders will last longer, but if the packaging contains PVC (polyvinyl chloride), then a green coating may form on the coins.
Cardboard holders, which are fastened with a stapler, should not be used to store coins in albums - the staples will easily tear the protective film. Self-adhesive holders are more practical.
Of course, during long-term storage, additional packaging will be required for the coins, because the holder does not completely isolate the collection from contact with air.
Coin capsules
This is the optimal packaging for collectible coins. The sealed capsule protects coins from the harmful effects of air and moisture. In addition, the capsules are made of polystyrene - it is harmless for coins. The capsules are available in two types: regular and with spacer inserts. Ordinary capsules must be matched to the corresponding coin based on its diameter, but capsules with a distance insert can be matched to different copies of the numismatic collection.
Album for coins
Perhaps this is the most common way to store coins. It is possible to purchase universal albums for coins or albums issued for a specific coin series. Thanks to the transparency of the inner sheets, you can easily see the desired coin from both sides.
Coin cases are the most expensive option. Usually, coins are placed in capsules, in tablets, and tablets are placed in cases. This is very convenient for a true numismatist.
How to store coins
It is necessary to store coins in dry rooms, in which the temperature regime is maintained within + 15-40 ° C. When inspecting the collection, you must use special tweezers with tips, you can take coins by the side surface. It is advisable to carry out all manipulations with coins in numismatic gloves.
Collectible coins cannot be cleaned with cleaning chemicals - they can destroy the surface relief or spoil the background. For these purposes, it is necessary to choose special products that are made for cleaning coins.
